Rapport-Jobava System

Moves: 1. d4 d5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. Bf4

The Rapport-Jobava System is characterized by an early development of the knight to c3 combined with the bishop f4 move, aiming for quick piece activity and flexibility. Unlike more traditional Queen's Pawn openings, White delays c4 and instead focuses on solid development and control of key squares.

This opening is generally attacking for White, as it seeks to put immediate pressure on Black's center and development, often leading to dynamic and unbalanced positions. For Black, it is more reactive and defensive, needing to carefully respond to White's active setup.

Regarding the center, the Rapport-Jobava System does attack the center, especially targeting the d5 square, but does so without the immediate c4 pawn thrust common in other d4 openings. Instead, White supports the center with pieces and sometimes prepares c4 later, maintaining flexibility.
